My name is Mandie Harwell, I am a commercial photographer born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. I started shooting 35mm film and pinhole in 2005 with darkroom processes. Since then, I have progressed to professional digital photography and commercial image management. My area of expertise is retouching and restoration in the areas of manipulation, compilation, color correction and spot retouching.
Shortly after completing a Bachelor of Fine art at SCAD, I started a commercial image library project with the CDC's department of creative services in Atlanta. Next I dipped my toes in the editorial world working as a full time assistant at Time Inc. subsidiary Southern Progress which houses Cooking Light, Southern Living & Oxmoor House publishing.
Following that I contracted with the CDC as a digital image specialist. During my time there I implemented and conducted an overhaul on the archival process for all digital photography. I took on photography assignments for the agency specializing in portraiture as well as historical photography. Many assignments included working with high-profile public figures and international political and military figures.
I now work as a full time commercial photographer at aeronautic powerhouse, LockheedMartin Corporation. I take on assignments including employee portraits, environmental portraits, employee engagement events, award ceremonies, and industrial requests. I also provide documentation of significant aeronautics requests including documenting flights. Many assignments revolve around supporting customer relations during plane delivery ceremonies with the U.S. military as well as foreign customers.
I am happily married and living with my husband, Jonathan, in Kennesaw, Georgia. We have two Great Danes, one Harlequin boy Odin and one Merle girl Freya. We also have a tuxedo kitty, Ollie, who is best friends with Odin. I like to run 5K races around the Atlanta area, I even braved the Peachtree 10K once. You can find us grilling out watching football on a lazy Sunday. We also love to travel and are always looking for a new adventure.
